The Labour Party had brought them "influence, and not a little affluence," Neil Kinnock spat at the founders of the SDP, and especially at Roy Jenkins, erstwhile President of the European Commission. Well, look at Kinnock now.
As for selling out, the abject condition of the former mining communities, even after all these years, is the only evidence that Neil Kinnock ever existed.
He is mostly famous, insofar as he is, for a speech that centred on a lie. The redundancy notices in Liverpool were an accounting trick. Liverpool City Council did not in fact sack anyone.
And why would anyone care what a man who led his party to two General Election defeats and no victories thought about anything? Does anyone care what Neil Kinnock thinks about anything?
